Newsletter details

Newsletter content

The goal of the Newsletter is the dissemination of information and news in the field of radiological sciences. The Newsletter is not meant to publish comprehensive scientific papers suited for peer-reviewed journals. However, recent progress or preliminary results can be published in reports referring to recent or forthcoming journal publications as well as to relevant events (conference, workshop...). The Newsletter also welcomes correspondence and suggestions concerning topics for discussion. Replies and comments are encouraged online (see User guidelines).

Newsletter database

The Newsletter Online (ISSN 1627-3699) is an interactive site using a database entirely operated from the World Wide Web. The database is accessible from the Web through a public portal and an interface restricted to the Editorial board.

A user can submit a contribution to the Editorial board from the Web (see How to submit news).

Proffered contributions which are submitted online are first reviewed by the Editorial board, using the restricted site area, before being posted on the public site.

Correspondents interested in receiving e-mail updates of the Newsletter Online, Newsletter booklets and/or submitting news and comments, have the possibility to register and update their personal references and subscribe (see Web site access, registration and subscription). The Newsletter registration list is by this way continuously updated and expanding.

Publications advertisements

To facilitate access to current reports, the welcome window displays the four most recent information packages. In addition, regular electronic mails are sent to all subscribed readers to announce new updates.

A Newsletter booklet (ISSN 1627-3699) is distributed electronically twice yearly among subscribed readers as a pdf file automatically generated from the database.

Legal notice

The texts are published under the responsibility of their authors. Neither the Editor nor any person acting on behalf of one of the Partners is responsible for the use that might be made of the following information.

User guidelines

Visiting the Newsletter Online on the Web

The Newsletter Online is accessed using the URL: http://www.euradnews.org
The information is found under the headings: editorial / forum / info / reports / announcements / publications / correspondence. Selecting one heading opens a list of news. Each item opens the news and displays the Newsletter issue and identification number, submission date, information content, author name, reference and e-mail contact and the responsible editor who has coordinated the reviewing work.

Additional links to EURADOS and ERRS and other sponsoring projects summarize the list of all news published within the corresponding framework

Moreover, some news generally published under forum which form a discussion document, might be opened for comments. A comment area appears then at the bottom of the report's window and visitors can submit their comments under 'click here to add a comment to this article' provided that they have first registered. The author of the article and the editors are informed by e-mail of the comments received.

The welcome window presents a 'search' button allowing queries for any keyword contained in the title and text body of a report. The search action returns a list of relevant information packages found among all records in the database. For the issues nr 7 to 12, published online before the database installation, the reports can be searched under 'archives'.

Web site access, registration and subscription

The Newsletter web site can be freely accessed and searched. However, it is necessary to register in order to subscribe to the e-mail service announcing updates and disdtributing the printable booklet. This subscription is free. Registration is also required for submitting news and comments.

When registering, the reader is asked to fill in the login page as completely as possible. The 'User registration' page can be found in the welcome window. The login menu includes the subscription option.

For subsequent logins, readers identify themselves by typing their e-mail as user ID, followed by a password. The e-mail reference is important as the database automatically uses it for further communication, e.g. to notify administrator, editors and authors of further comments, new submissions, distribute the pdf booklet, etc...

It is highly recommended that registered readers regularly check and complete their personal data and password for keeping the registration updated and for greater protection of the data.

If you forget your password, please send an e-mail to the administrator. Moreover, the administrator will be informed of any new registration.

How to submit news

In the main window, click 'Submit News'. The login page will appear. Fill in your e-mail/password, if you are already registered, or enter a new login. If asked, press on 'click here' to continue.

The submission page opens. Select the category suitable for your contribution. Fill in the title field, possibly a subtitle, and then your text. You have also the option to enter a shorter abstract for use in the pdf printable version. On the following page, you can possibly upload one or more files, which contain additional illustrations and logos and photos. All standard formats (doc, jpg, pdf, gif, ..) are allowed. Then click on 'Submit'.

The administrator will be notified and will confirm that your submission is being processed by the editorial board. If necessary, you will receive further information by e-mail from the administrator or from the responsible editor. In any case, you will be informed when your new report is made available on the public site for a last check. If there is anything you would like to modify at that stage, please inform rapidly the administrator.

This procedure was made as user friendly as possible to improve the efficiency of the editorial work. As an alternative, however, you may still submit your information package by standard e-mail to one of the editors (see 'Editoral board' below). In that case, please do not forget to provide your complete login data in order to avoid delays in the publication.

Editorial guidelines

Online publication
Submitted material should be clear, understandable and informative. Concise documents are highly recommended to avoid tedious screen scrolling. As a general guideline, the information displayed on 1-2 screen lengths is about 300-500 words depending on presentation style. The administrator reserves the right to edit and harmonise the presentation with the web site style.

You may wish to submit more detailed information which is not published elsewhere and is intended for specifically interested readers. In that case, you are asked to restrict the main message to essential information and to include further details in an accompanying doc or pdf file. Drafts of articles and journal publications will not be accepted.

PDF booklet publication
The booklet publication is made of a pdf file automatically generated twice a year from the database. By default, the pdf creator will use the news content. However, the author may add a shorter abstract to his submission. The approach of the booklet indeed is to provide subscribed users with a clear and printed summary of the information found in the last issue which details can be found in the web site.

How to submit a comment

If a report is open for discussion, you will see a grey bar marked with 'Comments' at the bottom of the report displayed and, below, you will see 'click here to add a comment'.

After clicking on the link, the login page will appear. Fill in your e-mail/password, if you are already registered, or enter a new login. The comment window opens. Enter a title for your comment and the text. Then click on Submit.

The editors and the author of the report will be immediately notified of your comment. The successive comments and their authors will be displayed on line below 'Comments'.
